Graeme Thomas Eyes ‘Fairytale’ Olympic Return at European Rowing Championships

Graeme Thomas is on a mission to turn his rowing fairytale into reality as he gears up for this weekend’s European Rowing Championships in Szeged.
The Preston star missed the entire 2023 season due to injury but made a stunning comeback at December’s Olympic Trials, securing a sensational victory that reignited his Olympic dreams.
A silver medal at the first World Cup regatta of the season in Varese, Italy, further bolstered Thomas’ belief that a podium finish at Paris 2024 is within reach.
Reflecting on his journey back to competition, Thomas said, “There were definitely moments where I thought it was curtains for me, but here I am, back on the water and feeling stronger than ever.”
Teaming up with Callum Dixon, Tom Barras, and Matthew Haywood in the quadruple sculls event, Thomas and his crew narrowly missed out on gold to the reigning Olympic champions from the Netherlands.
Despite the close finish, Thomas remains focused on the task at hand, emphasizing the importance of taking each day as it comes and focusing on the process rather than the outcome.
With the Olympic team announcement looming in June, Thomas is determined to make a compelling case for his inclusion, drawing on his experience and dedication to the sport.
As he sets his sights on a successful campaign at the European Championships, Thomas remains humble and focused on the task at hand, determined to improve on last year’s fourth-placed finish.
With the support of his teammates and the guidance of men’s head coach Paul Stannard, Thomas is ready to give his all in pursuit of Olympic glory once again.
