Orange Athletics Update: Softball, Tennis, Track and Field, and Rowing Results

The Syracuse Orange athletes have been busy competing in their respective sports this past week, with some impressive performances across the board.

In softball, the Orange had a tough series against Pittsburgh, dropping two out of three games on the road. However, they were able to bounce back and secure a 12-3 win in the second game with key home runs from Vanessa Flores, Madison Knight, and Rebecca Clyde. Outfielder Angel Jasso continues to lead the team with a .388 batting average and is currently leading the ACC with seven triples on the season.

On the tennis court, the Orange season came to an end with a 4-1 defeat against Notre Dame in the ACC Championships. Despite the loss, Polina Kozyreva earned a point for Syracuse with a win at #5 singles, while the doubles team of Miyuka Kimoto and Viktoriya Kanapatskaya secured the #1 singles slot.

In track and field, Syracuse had a strong showing at multiple meets last weekend. Freshman Benne Anderson and Paul O’Donnell both secured wins in their respective events, while Savannah Roark, Madison Neuner, and Ellie Lawler also had impressive performances on the women’s side. The team will now prepare for the Penn Relays and the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

In rowing, the #7-ranked men’s team retained The Goes Trophy over Navy and Cornell in their first home race in a while. The women’s team, ranked #8, will be competing in the Lake Wheeler Invite this weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina. Additionally, Charlotte Ebel was named a Syracuse University Remembrance Scholar for 2024-25, honoring those who lost their lives in the Pan Am 103 bombing.

Overall, it’s been a busy and successful week for Syracuse athletes across various sports, with many exciting competitions and achievements to celebrate.
