Cleeve CC Prepares for Senior Division with New Player/Coach Sponsored by Phoenix Tax
Cleeve CC Gears Up for Senior Division with New Player/Coach
Exciting times are ahead for Cleeve CC as they prepare for life in the Senior Division of The Bristol and District league with the appointment of new player/coach, Jalal Ahmed, sponsored by Phoenix Tax. Following two successive seasons of promotion from League 2, the team is ready to take on the challenge of facing higher quality opponents in the upcoming season.
Ahmed brings a wealth of experience to the team, having played West of England Premier League cricket for 14 years and excelling in both batting and bowling. His impressive stats from his time at Almondsbury and Hemyock CC in the West Somerset League speak for themselves, making him a valuable addition to the squad.
Club Captain Sam Williams is thrilled to have Ahmed on board, noting the positive impact he has already had on the team during training sessions. With Ahmed leading the way, the team is looking forward to a successful season ahead.
In addition to the exciting league fixtures, Cleeve also has a busy cup schedule lined up for 2024, including the Bristol & District and Somerset Cups, as well as the Vitality National T20 competition.
The club has also made some key signings, with all-rounder Tom Baughan and pace bowler Sam Jervis joining the squad to provide further depth and competition for places.
Fans can catch Cleeve in action this weekend as they take on Golden Hill CC 2nd XI in their final preseason friendly before kicking off their competitive league campaign against Downend Cricket Club’s 2nd XI on May 4th. With a strong squad and a talented new player/coach at the helm, Cleeve CC is ready to make their mark in the Senior Division.
