New Delhi, 22nd April 2024: Marina Lalramnghaki, the talented midfielder from Mizoram, has recently been selected to be a part of the 33-member core group of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team. Her journey to this prestigious position has been marked by hard work, dedication, and a passion for the sport.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who hails from Hockey Mizoram, caught the eye of selectors with her exceptional performance during the 14th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship in Pune. Scoring three goals in the tournament, Marina showcased her agility and strategic play on the field, earning her a well-deserved spot in the national team’s core group.

Reflecting on her selection, Marina expressed her joy and gratitude, stating, “I was overwhelmed with joy when I received the news of my selection in the core group. It was a dream come true moment for me, and tears of joy filled my eyes. I always had confidence in my abilities, and the successful trials reaffirmed my belief.”

With her sights set on upcoming tournaments, Marina is determined to secure a place in the 18-member Indian squad for future challenges. Her ultimate goal is to contribute to the success of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team in the 2026 Women’s FIH Hockey World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. However, for now, she is focused on making it to the squad of the Indian team and giving her best to make her country proud.

Marina’s journey in hockey began at a young age, and she credits her inspiration to Lalremsiami and idolizes Indian team midfielder Sushila Chanu. Drawing motivation from their success stories, Marina is determined to carve her own path in the world of hockey and leave a lasting impact on the sport.

As Marina Lalramnghaki continues to train and hone her skills at the Sports Authority of India in Bengaluru, the future looks bright for this rising star in Indian women’s hockey.
