63rd Annual All-Sports Gala Program Highlights and Award Recipients
Providence College Athletics Department recently hosted its 63rd Annual All-Sports Gala, where outstanding student-athletes were recognized for their achievements during the past year. Among the honorees were junior guard Devin Carter, senior Will Layden, senior forward Meg Hughes, junior Kimberley May, senior Shannon Flockhart, senior Chase Yoder, graduate student Josh Oduro, senior Lilly Tuck, and senior Emily Antunes.
Devin Carter was named Male Athlete of the Year for Team Sports after an exceptional season with the men’s basketball team, where he was named BIG EAST Player of the Year. Will Layden received the Male Athlete of the Year for Individual Sports for the second consecutive year, defending his BIG EAST individual titles in swimming. Meg Hughes was recognized as Female Athlete of the Year for Team Sports for leading the women’s soccer team to the NCAA Tournament. Kimberley May claimed Female Athlete of the Year for Individual Sports for her stellar cross country and track career.
Other notable awards included Shannon Flockhart winning the Paul Connolly Award, Chase Yoder receiving the Mal Brown Award, and Emily Antunes being honored with the Jane Thompson Award. Additionally, Josh Oduro and Lilly Tuck were presented with the Sine Qua Non Awards for their outstanding contributions to their respective sports.
The event also recognized the Driscoll Cup winner, the women’s soccer program, and Senior Scholar-Athletes Sammie Ruggles, Rachel Weiss, and Josh Lewin. Over 100 student-athletes were inducted into the Letter Winner’s Society, celebrating their dedication and commitment to their sports.
