Exciting Free Spectator Zone at Colchester for Ford RideLondon Classique Opening Stage
Colchester Council is gearing up to host the Ford RideLondon Classique for the third consecutive year, with an exciting free spectator zone set to kick off the event on Friday, May 24. The spectator zone, located in Castle Park, promises a vibrant atmosphere for spectators to cheer on the racers at the final stretch of the race’s opening stage.
In addition to the thrilling race action, the event will feature a range of fun activities and refreshment options for attendees to enjoy. Schools are also invited to take part in colour and logo design contests, providing a platform for students to showcase their artistic talents in connection with the event.
Various community and sports groups, such as Essex Pedal Power and The Dry Skate Project, will be present at the event to offer entertainment and information about their activities. The Essex County Council mobile library will also be on hand, with more groups set to be announced in the lead-up to the event.
The race is scheduled to start from Saffron Walden at 11am, with cyclists expected to reach the finish line on East Hill, Colchester around 3pm. Spectators are encouraged to witness the thrilling conclusion in person and catch a glimpse of the world-class competitors as they pass Colchester Castle after the race.
