High School Athlete Excels at Ambidextrous Pitching, Lacrosse Supremacy in Anne Arundel County

Mateo Peterson, a freshman at Justice High School in Fairfax County, is making waves on the baseball field with his unique talent of pitching ambidextrously. The idea was first introduced to him by his older brother when he was in Little League, and since then, Peterson has honed his skills to become equally effective with both his right and left arms.

Peterson’s ambidextrous pitching ability caught the attention of his coaches and teammates, leading to his spot on the varsity team as one of only two freshmen this season. He throws the same four pitches with each arm – fastball, change-up, sinker, and curveball – with equal velocity, accuracy, and confidence.

Despite the departure of key players from previous seasons, the Riverside Rams are off to a strong start this spring with an 8-1-1 record. Led by a mix of talented juniors and seniors, the team is determined to make another run at the state championship.

In lacrosse, the battle for supremacy in Anne Arundel County has intensified, with Broadneck, Severna Park, and South River all vying for the top spot. Each team has suffered only one defeat so far, setting the stage for an exciting county tournament.
