Rafael Nadal to Play Laver Cup in Berlin, Possibly Final Tournament of Career
NEW DELHI: Tennis fans around the world are gearing up for what could potentially be one of Rafael Nadal’s final tournaments of his illustrious career. The 22-time Grand Slam winner will be representing Team Europe at the Laver Cup in Berlin this September, as confirmed by the tournament’s organizers on Monday.
After struggling with a hip injury that sidelined him for most of 2023 and the beginning of this season, Nadal, who will turn 38 in June, has hinted that this year might be his last on the tour. The Spaniard is looking to make the most of every opportunity he is given, especially at the Laver Cup where he has some special memories, including playing doubles with Roger Federer in 2022.
Under the guidance of coach Bjorn Borg, Nadal will team up with Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Alexander Zverev as Team Europe aims to reclaim the Laver Cup title from September 20 to 22.
Despite his recent struggles, Nadal remains a force to be reckoned with on the court. Although he suffered an early exit at the Barcelona Open last week, the former world number one is determined to make a strong comeback at the Laver Cup.
On the other side, John McEnroe will lead Team World with players like Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz, and Tommy Paul in the lineup.
As tennis fans eagerly await the Laver Cup in Berlin, all eyes will be on Nadal as he looks to add another memorable chapter to his legendary career.
