UNC Basketball Still in Contention for Tennessee Transfer Jonas Aidoo
The race to land former Tennessee big man Jonas Aidoo is heating up, with Baylor emerging as the favorite according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball. However, UNC basketball head coach Hubert Davis and his staff are not ready to concede defeat just yet.
Aidoo, a 6-foot-11, 240-pound center, has been in the transfer portal for less than two weeks and already has four schools heavily in the mix for his services. Alongside Baylor, Alabama, and Arkansas, UNC is also vying for Aidoo’s commitment.
A former four-star recruit, Aidoo made significant strides in his development during his time at Tennessee, culminating in an impressive junior season where he averaged 11.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. His performance helped lead the Volunteers to the top of the SEC standings and a deep run in the NCAA tournament.
With UNC in need of a quality center to replace the departed Armando Bacot, Aidoo could be a perfect fit for the Tar Heels. Despite facing stiff competition from other schools, UNC remains in contention for Aidoo’s services, thanks in part to the opportunity for significant playing time in Chapel Hill.
As Aidoo weighs his options, Tar Heels fans will be eagerly awaiting his decision. Stay tuned to All Tar Heels on SI for the latest updates on Aidoo’s recruitment and all things UNC basketball.
