Baton Rouge Zydeco Hockey Team Generates $18.1 Million in Economic Impact in First Season

The Baton Rouge Zydeco hockey team has made quite the impact in its first season, bringing in a whopping $18.1 million in economic impact to the city. The team’s success was highlighted during a news conference where President Don Lewis and Raising Cane’s River Center General Manager Wayne Hodes discussed the future of the team.

With a total season attendance of 110,816, the Baton Rouge Zydeco led the league in overall attendance and set a new record for season attendance in the history of the FPHL. Hodes expressed his excitement for the team’s achievements, stating, “The team led the league in overall attendance for the season and also the team set an all-time record for season attendance in the history of the fed, or the FPHL.”

Looking ahead to next season, Lewis announced plans for a full promotional schedule and more consistent game times. Head coach Everett Thompson expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue leading the team, emphasizing the importance of fan support in the team’s success.

Players Scott Shorrock and Bradley Richardson will be returning for the 2024-25 season, bringing their leadership and talent back to the ice. Richardson, whose father once played for a minor league team in the city, shared his excitement about continuing the family legacy in Baton Rouge.

As the Zydeco finished their season with 15 wins and 36 losses, Shorrock expressed confidence in the team’s potential for the upcoming season. With a strong finish and a dedicated fan base, the Baton Rouge Zydeco are poised for even greater success in the future.
