Nelly Korda Ties LPGA Record with Fifth Consecutive Win, 20-year-old Lottie Woad Impresses in Major Debut
Nelly Korda has etched her name in the history books once again as she tied the record for the most consecutive LPGA wins, matching the impressive feat set by Nancy Lopez in 1978 and repeated by Annika Sorenstam in 2004 and 2005. The world No 1’s incredible run continued as she claimed her fifth successive tournament win at the Chevron Championship, securing her second major title in the process.
Korda, who began the final round one stroke behind the leader, Haeran Ryu, delivered a stellar performance with a three-under final round of 69 to finish the tournament at 13 under. The 25-year-old American showcased her skill and composure under pressure, ultimately clinching victory by two shots.
Reflecting on her remarkable achievement, Korda expressed her relief and joy at finally being able to breathe after the intense competition. She admitted to feeling nervous on the back nine but managed to stay focused and secure the win.
In addition to Korda’s triumph, the tournament also saw the impressive performance of 20-year-old English amateur, Lottie Woad. Making her first major appearance, Woad finished one-under despite facing tough competition. The young talent, who recently won the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, showcased her potential and resilience on the big stage.
As Korda continues to dominate the LPGA tour with her exceptional skills and determination, fans are eagerly anticipating her next move. With a record-tying winning streak and a second major title under her belt, Korda has solidified her status as one of the top players in women’s golf.
