The West Texas A&M Buffs had an eventful weekend as they faced off against Lubbock Christian in a four-game series at Wilder Park. The No. 5-ranked Buffs managed to secure a home split against the No. 18-ranked Chaps, winning two games and losing two.

In Friday’s opener, the Buffs came out strong with a 5-1 victory before falling short in the nightcap with a score of 8-2. However, they quickly bounced back on Saturday with a 7-5 win, thanks to a stellar performance from senior pitcher Nick Marshall. The series finale on Sunday was a close battle, but Lubbock Christian managed to edge out the Buffs with a 5-4 victory. Despite the loss, Dylan Fesperman stood out with his impressive performance throughout the series, tallying a total of eight RBIs.

With the regular season winding down, the Buffs currently lead the Lone Star Conference with a record of 32-12, just one game ahead of LCU. They will close out the season with a crucial four-game series against No. 22 Angelo State starting on Friday.

Overall, the series against Lubbock Christian showcased the Buffs’ resilience and determination as they fought hard against a tough opponent. With the postseason approaching, WTAMU will look to carry this momentum into the final stretch of the season.
