Tennessee Baseball Powers Past Kentucky with Series Win
Tennessee baseball junior Christian Moore put on a power display over the weekend, leading the No. 3 Vols to a series win against the No. 5 Kentucky Wildcats. Moore’s offensive explosion included four home runs in the three-game series, with his third homer of the weekend coming in the finale at Kentucky Proud Park.
In Sunday’s thrilling 13-11 victory, Moore’s late-game heroics helped Tennessee secure the series win. After falling behind early, the Vols rallied to take the lead with key contributions from Kavares Tears and Aaron Combs. Tears delivered a clutch two-run homer to put UT ahead, while Combs turned in a dominant pitching performance, striking out seven batters in 4⅔ scoreless innings.
Moore’s offensive prowess was on full display throughout the series, as he set a new Tennessee career record with 46 home runs. The Vols as a team have been hitting home runs at a record pace, with 111 long balls on the season. This marks the third consecutive year that Tennessee has surpassed the previous program record for home runs in a season.
With the series win over Kentucky, Tennessee improved to 33-7 overall and 12-6 in SEC play. The Vols will look to build on their success as they continue their quest for a conference championship and a deep postseason run. Stay tuned for more exciting baseball action from the red-hot Tennessee Vols.
