Leeds Rhinos Dominate in Women’s Super League Season Opener
Sensational Leeds get 2024 under way in fine fashion
Leeds Rhinos kicked off their 2024 Women’s Super League season in spectacular fashion with a dominant 66-4 victory over Huddersfield Giants. Evie Cousins, Zoe Hornby, and Lucy Murray all shone brightly as they each scored a hat-trick of tries in the impressive win.
The Rhinos wasted no time in asserting their dominance, with Hornby scoring just two minutes into the match. Ruby Enright was in fine form, adding seven goals to the scoreboard as the hosts raced to a 36-4 lead at halftime.
Caitlin Beevers, Cousins, and Murray continued the onslaught in the second half, with Enright scoring again just four minutes in. Murray completed her hat-trick, while Sophie Robinson also got on the scoresheet.
Cousins, who had returned from a year-long injury absence, showed her class once again by scoring two tries in Leeds’ Women’s Challenge Cup quarter-final win over Warrington Wolves the previous weekend.
The Rhinos’ performance was a statement of intent as they look to build on their success from last season. With a strong squad and plenty of attacking firepower, they will be a team to watch in the upcoming season.
Elsewhere, Wigan also got off to a winning start with an 18-4 victory over Barrow. Anna Davies, Isabel Rowe, and Kaitlin Hilton all scored for the Warriors, while Michelle Larkin grabbed a consolation try for the Raiders.
The Women’s Super League is off to an exciting start, and fans can expect plenty of thrilling action as the season unfolds.
