Kenny Brooks Adds Josh Petersen to Kentucky Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff
Kentucky women’s basketball head coach Kenny Brooks continues to make moves to strengthen his coaching staff, with the addition of Josh Petersen as the latest assistant coach.
Petersen, who previously served as an assistant at Miami, expressed his excitement about joining the Wildcats in a press release. He praised Brooks as one of the most admired and respected coaches in the game and expressed his eagerness to work alongside the top-notch coaching staff being assembled at Kentucky.
During his time at Miami, Petersen played a key role in the team’s success, helping guide the Hurricanes to their first NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearance in program history. His work with the post players contributed to Miami’s top-five rebounding rank within the ACC, despite a 19-12 record during the 2023-24 season.
Prior to his tenure at Miami, Petersen spent four seasons at Pittsburgh, where he oversaw the development of several ACC All-Academic Team selections and helped mentor an ACC All-Freshman Team honoree and an All-ACC honorable mention selection.
As Petersen joins the Wildcats, the team is also navigating some roster changes, with several players announcing their commitments to other Power Five programs and transfers. Despite the adjustments, Brooks remains focused on building a strong roster for the upcoming season.
With Petersen’s expertise and experience, Kentucky women’s basketball is poised to continue its success on the court. Fans can look forward to seeing the impact of the new coaching staff as they work towards achieving their goals in the upcoming season.
