Scottie Scheffler Charges to the Top of the Leaderboard at RBC Heritage
Scottie Scheffler continued his impressive run of form at the RBC Heritage, moving to the top of the leaderboard with a spectacular bogey-free third round. The Masters champion carded an impressive 63, including eight birdies, to reach 16 under par and put himself in prime position for a fourth win in five starts.
Scheffler’s performance has been nothing short of exceptional, as he aims to become the first player since Bernhard Langer in 1985 to win on the PGA Tour the week after claiming the Green Jacket. The world No 1 heads into the final day with a one-shot lead over Sepp Straka, with Collin Morikawa close behind in third place.
“I think when I’m playing my best, sometimes it feels like I’m competing against myself a little bit out there, trying to keep pushing and stay as focused as I can,” Scheffler said. “I love competing against these guys, and I’m looking forward to the challenge of coming out and competing tomorrow.”
Scheffler’s round included some incredible shots, including a 35-foot birdie putt on the ninth hole and a chip-in on the 15th. His consistency has been remarkable, with this being his 39th consecutive round at par or better. Straka also put up a strong performance, finishing with a four-under 67 to stay within striking distance of the lead.
As the final round approaches, all eyes will be on Scheffler as he looks to secure another victory. With players like Morikawa and Åberg in contention, the competition is fierce.
