Brainerd Warriors Swim Coach John Zemke to be Inducted into Hall of Fame

John Zemke, the long-time head coach of the Brainerd Warriors swim/dive program, received a surprising phone call from activities director Jack Freeman that left him feeling humbled and proud. Zemke, who has been coaching for 27 years, was informed that he would be inducted into the Warriors Athletic Hall of Fame alongside other notable individuals.

Reflecting on his coaching journey, Zemke credited his assistant coaches and the supportive athletic directors he has worked with over the years. He highlighted the success of the program, including numerous championships and runner-up finishes, as well as the strong relationships he has built with his student-athletes.

Zemke’s coaching prowess was further emphasized by former swimmers who praised his taper-focused approach and emphasis on mental preparation. His impressive track record includes multiple Coach of the Year awards, state qualifiers, All-State athletes, and All-American honors.
