Travis Head’s aggressive half-century propels Sunrisers Hyderabad to a commanding victory over Delhi Capitals
In a high-scoring and thrilling encounter, Sunrisers Hyderabad emerged victorious against Delhi Capitals in the IPL clash on Saturday. Travis Head’s aggressive half-century set the tone for SRH’s dominant performance, leading them to a commanding 67-run win over DC.
After setting a daunting target of 267 runs, Delhi got off to a strong start with explosive innings from Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel. However, once the duo was dismissed, SRH’s bowlers took control of the game, with pacer T Natarajan shining with four crucial wickets. Leg-spinner Mayank Markande also played a vital role in restricting Delhi’s chase.
DC skipper Rishabh Pant acknowledged that the decision to bowl first backfired, as the expected dew factor did not come into play. Despite a valiant effort from his team, Pant highlighted the importance of improving their mindset and performance in the upcoming games.
Travis Head’s blistering knock of 89 runs off just 32 balls, supported by Abhishek Sharma’s quickfire 46, propelled SRH to a record-breaking start of 125 runs without loss in the powerplay. Shahbaz Ahmed’s unbeaten 59 further bolstered the total, as SRH posted a massive score of 266/7.
Although spinner Kuldeep Yadav impressed with four wickets for DC, it was not enough to stop SRH’s dominant display with both bat and ball. The victory puts Sunrisers Hyderabad in a strong position in the IPL standings, while Delhi Capitals will look to bounce back in their next fixture.
