Shinty fans were treated to a goal fest in the north and south area championships, with a total of 50 goals scored in the eight quarter-final ties. The standout result came from Kyles, who demolished Ardnamurchan 14-0 in the Celtic Society Cup, with Scott MacDonald netting an impressive five goals in the second half.

Meanwhile, Oban Camanachd showed their dominance in the south with a 9-0 victory over Oban Celtic, highlighting the lack of depth in the region. Defending champions Kingussie advanced with a comfortable 4-0 win over Caberfeidh, while Newtonmore narrowly edged past Kilmallie 3-2.

In the north, Skye put on a strong performance to defeat Inverness 6-1 in the MacTavish Cup, with Iain MacInnes, Kenny Cushnie, Dan MacDonald, Murphy Henderson, William MacKinnon, and Jamie Gillies all getting on the scoresheet. Lovat and Kinlochshiel also secured important wins to climb up the Mowi Premiership table.

The lower league teams also made their mark in the competition, with Fort William beating Beauly 4-1 to advance to the MacTavish semi-finals. Greg Matheson was instrumental in Lovat’s victory, scoring two goals in their 4-1 win over Glenurquhart.

Overall, it was a thrilling round of matches in the shinty championships, with plenty of goals and standout performances from both established teams and lower league sides. Fans can look forward to more exciting action as the competition progresses.
