Elena Rybakina Stuns Iga Swiatek to Reach Stuttgart Final

In a thrilling semi-final match at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, Elena Rybakina ended Iga Swiatek’s bid for a third consecutive title with a hard-fought 6-3 4-6 6-3 victory. The fourth seed Rybakina put on a stellar performance, making 10 aces and saving 11 of the 13 break points she faced to secure the win in two hours and 49 minutes.

Swiatek, the World No 1, started strong by breaking serve in the opening game and taking a 2-0 lead. However, Rybakina quickly turned the tide by winning five consecutive games, breaking Swiatek twice to claim the first set. The second set was a tight battle, with both players holding serve until Swiatek managed to break and force a decider.

In the third set, Rybakina continued to apply pressure, eventually breaking Swiatek to take a 3-2 lead. Despite a late rally from Swiatek, Rybakina held her nerve and secured the victory to advance to the final. She will now face either Marta Kostyuk or Marketa Vondrousova for the title.

Reflecting on her win, Rybakina expressed her joy at overcoming a tough opponent like Swiatek. “It was, like always a very tough match and I was fighting for every ball, it was such a close match,” Rybakina said. “I’m really happy that I managed to win and I showed a good game.”
