Heading into this week, American Fork knew they had a tough challenge ahead with back-to-back-to-back matchups against Region 3 rival Pleasant Grove. The Vikings had taken the early lead in the region with three straight wins over Westlake, setting the stage for an intense series between the two powerhouse teams.

American Fork rose to the occasion, reclaiming the top spot in the region with a series sweep over Pleasant Grove. The Cavemen started strong with close 1-0 and 5-2 road wins before sealing the deal with a dominant 10-0 victory at home.

Head coach Jared Ingersoll praised his team’s effort, especially on the offensive side. “Our bats have been a little bit inconsistent, but today they came out and hit a lot of balls hard. I’m super proud of their effort and the way they locked in today,” said Ingersoll.

Junior pitcher CJ Mascaro led the charge on the mound, shutting down the Pleasant Grove batters and pitching a complete game without allowing a single run. Mascaro’s performance was backed up by a solid defensive effort, including a quick double play that set the tone for the game.

Offensively, American Fork exploded for six runs in the second inning, with five different players recording RBIs. Cache Poulson had a standout performance, going a perfect 1.000 on the day with a double and two RBIs.

The Cavemen’s strong showing on both sides of the ball propelled them to a 10-0 victory in the fifth inning, securing the series sweep over Pleasant Grove. With a 5-1 record in Region 3, American Fork now sits comfortably atop the standings as they prepare for their next challenge against Skyridge.

Ingersoll commended his team’s mindset and effort, emphasizing the importance of coming ready to play against tough opponents like Pleasant Grove. “I’m so proud of our effort and how they came out and got after it today,” said Ingersoll.

American Fork’s impressive performance against Pleasant Grove serves as a statement to the rest of the region, showcasing their strength and determination as they continue their quest for a championship title.
