Debutants will be ruling the waves for Australia at the Paris Olympics with one medal hopeful named on two special teams on the same day in a remarkable coincidence. Zoe Thomson, a single-handed sailor, is set to make her Olympic debut in Marseilles where the sailing events will take place. Thomson’s remarkable day began when she was named as part of the Australian sailing team heading to the 2024 Olympics, joining a group of talented debutants.

Thomson’s Olympic journey got even better when she was also named as part of the 13-strong Team Australia Challenge for the upcoming America’s Cup. She joins three other female Olympians on the squad, including Paris-bound Olivia Price, London Olympian Nina Curtis, and Rio and Tokyo Olympian Lisa Darmanin.

In a changing of the guard, only two athletes from the Tokyo Olympics are heading to Paris, with defending Olympic champion Matt Wearn and Nia Jerwood making the cut. Thomson, along with her crewmate Conor Nicholas and other debutants, is determined to make her mark at the Olympics and believes she has what it takes to medal.

Despite facing challenges and controversies in the lead-up to the Games, Thomson remains focused and motivated. She is determined to embrace the opportunity and give her best performance on the Olympic stage. With the support of her teammates and the Australian sailing community, Thomson is ready to take on the competition and showcase her skills in Marseilles.

As Australia prepares to compete in the sailing events at the Paris Olympics, the team is filled with excitement and determination. With a mix of experienced athletes and talented debutants, Team Australia is ready to make a splash and bring home medals from the prestigious sporting event.
