Team News and Updates for Weekend Matches

In a shake-up to the squad, Seth Woodend, Brad Warne, and Ollie Holmes have been called up to the team in the absence of Max-Anderson-Moore, Sam Jones, and Aide Wright, who are currently enjoying warmer climates. Unfortunately, Jordan Staffieri is out due to injury, and Dan Wright is rated at 50-50 for the upcoming games.

On a positive note, experienced players Jack Sutherland and Shane Sanderson are back in action, providing a boost to the team. Coach Curtis expressed his confidence in the young players, stating, “Time to give the youngsters an opportunity, they are good lads, and I will see how they go.”

The team is looking to bounce back from a tough loss to Wigan St Jude’s, where they conceded over 60 points. Curtis emphasized the need to improve and pick up points in the upcoming matches.

Both teams had a week off due to waterlogged pitches, with Island currently sitting fourth from the bottom with four points, just above Saddleworth with two points.

Millom is gearing up to face Thornhill Trojans, with Ethan Kelly returning to the squad alongside several “A” team players. Despite a win over Ellenborough last weekend, the team suffered injuries to key players, with Ross Brookes hoping to pass a fitness test for the next game.

In the North West Men’s League, Hindpool is set to take on Rochdale Mayfield, with coach Kev Kyte naming a strong squad minus a few players. Newcomer Sam Turner will make his Tigers debut, while Ewan Mawhinney and Sam Beatie have earned spots in the squad after impressive performances.

Overall, the upcoming matches promise to be exciting as teams look to bounce back from setbacks and secure crucial points in the league standings.
