K-State Women’s Rowing Competes in Double Duel Against Iowa and Minnesota

The K-State women’s rowing team faced off against tough competition from Iowa and Minnesota this past weekend in Kansas City, Kan. at Wyandotte County Lake. Despite the challenges, the Wildcats showed determination and resilience throughout the races.

Head coach Patrick Sweeney emphasized the importance of the team’s growth and development, especially when facing schools with more experienced and international athletes. The Wildcats focused on building confidence and gaining valuable experience from the competition.

The team raced in a duel style format, with each boat going head-to-head against their opponents. Despite facing strong competition, the Wildcats showcased their hard work and dedication on the water.

Sophomore Kiersten Schmalz highlighted the team’s ability to push themselves in difficult conditions and learn from each race. The Wildcats showed improvement from Friday to Saturday, with boats shaving off seconds from their previous times.

Looking ahead, the Wildcats are gearing up for the SIRA regatta in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The team is focused on building on their experiences from this past weekend and continuing to push themselves in practice and races.
