Trailblazing Sophomore Jaslyne Ivey Shines on Bowie’s Baseball Team

Jaslyne Ivey is breaking barriers and making a name for herself on the baseball field at Bowie High School. The sophomore standout, who typically shines on the softball diamond, has transitioned to baseball with remarkable success.

In her first season playing high school baseball, Ivey has already made a significant impact. From her first hit as a freshman to being named the team’s top defensive player, she has proven herself as a valuable asset to the Bulldogs.

Despite facing challenges such as adjusting to the differences between softball and baseball, Ivey has shown resilience and determination. Her natural talent and work ethic have not gone unnoticed by her coaches and teammates.

Coach Gorman Johnson III praised Ivey’s skills, stating, “They got a girl at Bowie, and she’s legit.” Her teammates have also been inspired by her courage and dedication to the sport.

While Ivey excels on the baseball field, she is also considering her future in softball. With aspirations to play at the college level, she is focused on showcasing her abilities on the club circuit for Glory Softball’s 16U national team.
