Rory McIlroy commits to PGA Tour, denies LIV Golf rumors
Rory McIlroy has put an end to speculation about his future in golf, declaring that he will play on the PGA Tour “for the rest of my career” and ruling out any possibility of joining the controversial LIV Golf circuit.
Reports had surfaced suggesting that McIlroy had been offered a staggering $850 million to switch to the Saudi Arabian-backed league, but the four-time major winner quickly shut down those rumors in an interview with Golf Channel.
“I honestly don’t know how these things get started,” McIlroy said. “I’ve never been offered a number from LIV and have never contemplated going to LIV.”
Despite seeing some of his Ryder Cup teammates like Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton make the move to LIV Golf, McIlroy remains steadfast in his commitment to the PGA Tour.
“I think I’ve made it clear over the past two years that I don’t think it’s something for me,” McIlroy stated. “For me, my future is here on the PGA Tour and it’s never been any different.”
Following a disappointing performance at the Masters, where he finished tied for 22nd, McIlroy is now focused on the RBC Heritage in South Carolina before teaming up with Shane Lowry for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
With his sights set on continuing his career on the PGA Tour, McIlroy’s dedication and loyalty to the traditional golf circuit are unwavering, despite the allure of big-money offers from elsewhere.
