Irish rowing duo set their sights on Olympic success at World Cup event

Irish rowers Ross and Nathan are gearing up for the World Cup in Italy this week, ready to take on some of the best crews in the world. The pair, who flew out from Cork on Tuesday, are part of a small but elite group of competitors in their category.

With 11 boats in total, including strong teams from Great Britain, Germany, and Italy, the competition is fierce. However, Ross is confident in their abilities, noting that they will be facing off against the top three medallists from the World Championships last year, as well as the Olympic champions from Croatia and the bronze medallists from Denmark.

Despite some setbacks in their preparation, including sickness affecting Nathan’s training, the pair have been putting in the work to ensure they are ready for the challenge ahead. With a successful speed test completed just last week, they are feeling confident in their abilities and are eager to test themselves against the best in the world.

Their ultimate goal? The Olympic Games. While the selection process is ongoing, Ross and Nathan are focused on giving their all at the World Cup and aiming for a top finish. A medal at this event would be a huge achievement and a crucial step towards securing their spot at the Olympics.

As they head into the competition, the pair is approaching it with determination and a winning attitude. They are ready to push themselves to the limit and prove that they have what it takes to compete at the highest level. With World Cup Two on the horizon next month, Ross and Nathan are treating these events as opportunities to showcase their skills and secure their spot on the Olympic team.
