Richmondshire Royals Gymnastics Team Qualifies for British Championships
The Richmondshire Royals gymnastics team is on a winning streak, with three of its teams qualifying for the prestigious TeamGym British Championships in South Wales this July. The teams from the Richmondshire, Thirsk, Dales Gymnastics Club showcased their talent at the Northern qualifier, earning their spots at the national competition.
The Richmondshire Royals, consisting of India Clay, Violet Lumley, Chloe Proud, Sienna Cooper, and Evie Reeves, will be competing in the Level Three Youth Women’s Micro Team event at the British Championships. Additionally, the Richmondshire Level 2 Junior Mixed Micro Team and the Richmondshire Thirsk Dales Disability Team have also secured their places in the competition.
Head coach Rebecca Clay expressed her excitement for the club’s success, noting the dedication and hard work of the gymnasts both in and out of the gym. She emphasized the significance of this achievement and the opportunity for the young athletes to showcase their skills on a national stage.
In addition to their training, the club is fundraising to send its elite TeamGym squad to Denmark later this year to train with top national coaches. Last year’s trip was a valuable experience for the squad, and the club is eager to provide this opportunity to more gymnasts this year.
