Escanaba Baseball Takes Wisconsin by Storm: Weekend Recap
The Escanaba baseball team had a successful road trip to Wisconsin, winning two out of three games over the weekend. After a season-opening victory over Iron Mountain, the Eskymos continued their winning ways with dominant performances against Flambeau and Lake Mills.
In their first game against Flambeau, Escanaba exploded for 11 runs in the sixth inning to secure a 14-2 victory. Ben Johnson led the offensive charge, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored, while also pitching four hitless innings in relief. Eli Gardner drew three walks and scored twice in the win.
The Eskymos carried their momentum into their second game against Lake Mills, using a seven-run second inning to build a commanding lead. Mikaiden Hughes delivered a key three-run triple in the inning, while Bon LaChance had a stellar performance at the plate, going 3-for-3 with five RBI. Cannon Arnt earned the win on the mound, allowing six runs (three earned) over five innings of work.
Despite a strong effort, Escanaba fell short in their final game against Fond du Lac, losing 12-2. Ashton Rymkos provided the only offense for the Eskymos with a two-run triple. Lennox Peacock took the loss on the mound, surrendering five runs over 2 2/3 innings.
Overall, Escanaba showcased their offensive firepower and pitching depth during their road trip to Wisconsin. The team will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming matchup against Menominee on Tuesday.
