HEBRON – Zach Randl Leads Home Team to Victory at McHenry County Area All-Star Basketball Extravaganza
Dundee-Crown guard Zach Randl stole the show at the McHenry County Area All-Star Basketball Extravaganza, leading his Home team to a dominant 105-79 victory over the Away team. Randl’s scorching hot shooting performance earned him the game’s MVP honors as he finished with a team-high 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting, including four three-pointers.
The game started off with the Away team taking a 61-55 lead in the second half, but it was Randl’s teammate Kali Freeman who sparked a comeback with a flurry of points. Freeman’s contributions, along with a strong performance from A-H’s Nolan Vanderstappen and Ben Vole, helped Home regain the lead at 70-68.
Randl then took over the game, hitting five consecutive shots, including three three-pointers, during a crucial 22-3 run that put Home in control for good. Woodstock coach Ryan Starnes praised Randl and Freeman for their performance, noting that their aggressive play was key to turning the game around.
Freeman, along with Jacobs’ Treval Howard and Woodstock’s Spencer Cullum, also had impressive outings, each scoring in double figures to support Randl’s stellar performance. Freeman’s highlight of the night came with a late alley-oop dunk from his AAU teammate Bryce Walker, showcasing the chemistry and camaraderie among the players.
Overall, the game was a showcase of talent and teamwork, with players from different schools coming together to put on an entertaining display for the fans. Randl’s standout performance and the Home team’s dominant second-half showing made for an exciting and memorable All-Star game.
