Alexandria Gymnastics Team Shines in 2023-24 Season
The Alexandria gymnastics team had a standout season in 2023-24, with multiple athletes earning recognition for their impressive performances.
Eighth-grader Kira Johnson shined throughout the season, earning a Minnesota Girls Gymnastics Coaches Association honor on the vault with a score of 9.45. Johnson also competed in the state meet, finishing 23rd in the all-around MSHSL Class AA Individual state meet. She also received MGGCA honorable mention honors on the bars, floor, and all-around.
Other Cardinals also received MGGCA honorable mentions, including Dylan Witt, Addison Fettig, Kiera Christensen, Addison Gulbranson, Iris Perreault, and Addison Twa. Twa stood out with honors on the vault, bars, floor, and all-around.
In addition to individual accolades, the Alexandria team as a whole excelled. Johnson was named the varsity MVP on the vault, while Twa, Perreault, Witt, and Christensen also received team awards for their outstanding performances.
The team’s success extended to the Central Lakes Conference, where Johnson, Twa, Witt, and Perreault all earned all-conference honors in various events.
Overall, Alexandria finished second in the Central Lakes Conference and third in Section 8AA, capping off a successful season for the gymnastics team.
With a talented roster of athletes and a strong work ethic, the Alexandria gymnastics team has set a high standard for future seasons to come. Congratulations to all the athletes on their well-deserved recognition and achievements in the 2023-24 season.
