Armagh cruise past Fermanagh to set up Ulster semi-final showdown with Down

Armagh put on a dominant display as they cruised past Fermanagh in the Ulster Football Championship quarter-final at Brewster Park. The Orchard county set up another semi-final clash with Down after a convincing 3-4 to 0-2 victory.

Fermanagh had an early chance to score when Oisin Smyth’s shot was blocked on the line by Aaron McKay. However, it was Armagh who capitalized on their opportunities, with Conor Turbitt, Jarly Og Burns, and Stefan Campbell all finding the back of the net in the first half.

Despite a subdued second half, Armagh maintained their lead and secured an 11-point win over Fermanagh. The victory was a statement of intent from Armagh, who are still chasing their first Ulster title since 2008.

Manager Kieran McGeeney will be pleased with his team’s performance, especially after their disappointing loss to Donegal in the Division Two final. The players showed determination and skill to secure a comfortable win at a ground where they have struggled in the past.

Man of the match Rory Grugan praised his team’s first-half performance, stating, “We did a lot of the donkey work in the first half, we managed to turn them over a few times and get the goals and once you have that cushion you can play the game on your own terms.”

Armagh will now face Down in the semi-finals, where they will be looking to continue their impressive form and secure a spot in the provincial final. With their ruthless demonstration of firepower against Fermanagh, Armagh will be heavily favored to reach the decider and potentially claim the Ulster Championship title.
