Dana White dismisses reports of Eddie Hearn hosting first combat sports event at the Sphere

UFC president Dana White has shut down rumors that Eddie Hearn could beat him to host the first combat sports event at the Sphere in Las Vegas. Reports had surfaced claiming that the highly anticipated women’s boxing rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano was in advanced talks to take place at the new MSG Sphere arena in June.

However, White is confident that he will be hosting the Sphere’s first fight night, as he has already secured the venue for this year’s Mexican Independence Day UFC show in September. He has promised fans that it will be ‘the greatest live combat sports show anybody’s ever seen’.

When asked about the possibility of Hearn beating him to the punch, White made it clear that it ‘ain’t happening’. He jokingly told Hearn, “Sorry Eddie, love you buddy, you can go in the Sphere in October.”

The first fight between Taylor and Serrano in 2022 was a major event, with Taylor narrowly edging out Serrano in a thrilling ten-round contest. After initially going in different directions, the two fighters are now in talks for a highly anticipated rematch two years later.

The MSG Sphere is a state-of-the-art venue with a capacity of 18,600 and the world’s largest LED screen on its exterior. The venue, which opened late last year, has already impressed fans with its stunning displays and unique features, making it a highly sought-after location for major events.

While music acts are the main use of the venue, combat sports fans are eagerly awaiting the first fight night at the Sphere, which promises to be a historic event in the world of sports entertainment.
