Lando Norris Opens Up on Challenging Max Verstappen and Becoming a World Champion

Lando Norris has opened up about his drive to become a world champion and challenge Max Verstappen in Formula 1, revealing why he can sometimes appear “annoyed” in post-race interviews. The McLaren driver, currently fifth in the Driver Standings, is determined to reach the very top of the sport despite facing a mammoth 40-point gap to Verstappen.

In a recent interview with the Guardian, Norris admitted that his self-critical nature can sometimes make him look unhappy after races. He explained, “I am not going to achieve great things by being complacent. I set high goals for myself and I know what I am capable of.”

Despite signing a new deal with McLaren last year, Norris faced criticism for saying he didn’t want to be Verstappen’s teammate. However, he clarified that he believes he can challenge the Dutchman for a world championship, stating, “I am not afraid in any way of Max, I’m excited to be against Max. People rate him as up with the best, so I would like to prove myself by going up against that.”

Norris, who finished sixth in the 2023 season, is determined to continue his upward trajectory and prove himself as a top contender in Formula 1. With his sights set on challenging Verstappen, the 24-year-old is ready to push himself to the limit and show that he has what it takes to compete at the highest level.

Fans can catch all the action from Formula One on Sky Sports, where they can watch Norris and Verstappen battle it out on the track in their quest for championship glory. Stay tuned for more updates on Norris’s journey towards becoming a world champion in Formula 1.
