Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales Wins Sprint at Grand Prix of the Americas
Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales continued his winning streak by claiming victory in the sprint at the Grand Prix of the Americas on Saturday, marking his second consecutive sprint win of the season. The all-Spanish podium saw Vinales take the top spot ahead of Marc Marquez and MotoGP championship leader Jorge Martin.
The win was a sweet redemption for Vinales, who had also won the sprint at the Portuguese Grand Prix in the previous round but crashed on the final lap due to a technical issue. Vinales expressed his joy after the race, stating, “Can I just say I’m dreaming! I want to keep going. The level was amazing… We deserve it.”
Vinales made a perfect start, taking the lead from pole position, while Marquez quickly moved up to second place. Martin, who had faced two crashes in qualifying, fought his way up to fourth and set his sights on the front-runners.
Despite Marquez’s experience at the Circuit of the Americas, Vinales maintained his lead and crossed the finish line first, with Marquez securing second place. Martin, unable to make a late charge, settled for third place, extending his championship lead to 24 points.
Pedro Acosta finished fourth, followed by Aleix Espargaro in fifth. Enea Bastianini’s sixth-place finish moved him up to second in the championship standings, while Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
The thrilling race showcased the talent and determination of the riders, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead. Vinales’ back-to-back sprint wins have solidified his position as a strong contender in the MotoGP championship.
