Navy Heavyweight Rowing Team to Compete at 2024 Occoquan Collegiate Invitational

The No. 12 Navy heavyweight rowing team is gearing up for a day full of racing at the 2024 Occoquan Collegiate Invitational on Sunday. The team will be facing off against tough competition from nine other teams, including five ranked in the top-25.

The event, which will take place at the Sandy Run Regional Park in Fairfax Station, Virginia, will feature morning heat racing followed by afternoon finals. Navy’s schedule includes matchups against Jacksonville, Holy Cross, Drexel, Georgetown, Hobart, and more in various varsity eight races throughout the day.

The Mids are coming off a challenging season opener against Princeton, where they faced tough conditions and strong competition. Despite falling short in all four races, including the first varsity eight, Navy showed determination and grit in their performance.

At the 2023 Occoquan Collegiate Invitational, Navy had a strong showing with seven victories over an eight-race slate of competitions. The team’s first, second, third, fourth, and fifth varsity eight crews all competed and won individual contests, showcasing their strength and skill on the water.

With a mix of experienced rowers and newcomers, Navy is looking to build on their past successes and make a statement at the Occoquan Collegiate Invitational. Fans can expect an exciting day of racing as the Mids go head-to-head with some of the top teams in the country. Stay tuned for updates on Navy’s performance at the event.
