TCU Basketball Lands Arizona State Guard Frankie Collins from Transfer Portal

TCU basketball made a big splash in the transfer portal on Saturday morning, securing a commitment from Arizona State guard Frankie Collins. The addition of Collins is a major boost for the Horned Frogs, who are looking to revamp their guard rotation this off-season.

Collins, a 6-foot-1 junior, was a standout player in the Pac-12, leading the Sun Devils in scoring and assists with averages of 13.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. He started his collegiate career at Michigan before transferring to Arizona State, where he played a key role in helping the team reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in four seasons.

The TCU coaching staff is familiar with Collins, as the Horned Frogs and Sun Devils faced off in the NCAA Tournament in 2023 and had a rematch last December. Now, Collins will bring his experience and talent to TCU’s offense, filling a void left by departing seniors Jameer Nelson Jr., Avery Anderson, and Trevian Tennyson.

With over 60 collegiate starts under his belt, Collins is the experienced point guard that TCU needed. However, the team is not done yet in the transfer portal, with names like Milos Uzan, Noah Reynolds, and Brendan Wenzel also on their radar. Reynolds, who averaged over 20 points this season, is currently visiting TCU, while Wenzel is considering the Horned Frogs along with five other schools.

Collins joins Central Florida transfer CJ Walker in TCU’s transfer portal class, adding to the team’s incoming recruiting class, which ranks No. 16 in the nation. With a mix of experienced transfers and talented freshmen, the Horned Frogs are poised to make some noise in the upcoming season.
