New Women’s Football Sessions at Chilterns Lifestyle Centre: Girls’ Drop-in and Women’s Walking Football

Chilterns Lifestyle Centre Introduces New Women’s Football Sessions

Chilterns Lifestyle Centre is set to launch two exciting new football sessions aimed at women of all ages and abilities. Located at the Chilterns Lifestyle Centre, these weekly events are designed to provide a fun and inclusive environment for women to get involved in the beautiful game.

The first session is a girls’ drop-in session every Tuesday at 4pm, catering to those aged between 11-15 years. Led by an experienced coach from Chesham United Ladies Football Club, this casual and non-competitive session is perfect for young girls looking to hone their skills and have fun on the pitch.

For adult women, a walking football class will be held every Friday at 11am, with adapted rules to ensure safety. This slower-paced version of the game is ideal for beginners or women above the age of 40 looking to get back into football. Additionally, walking football is included in the facility’s GP referral scheme, making it a suitable activity for those with health conditions.

Steve Salwa, area contract manager, expressed the importance of providing equal opportunities for women in football, stating, “It is important to us that women are given the same opportunity to play football as men. There are so many inspiring women in football today, and we hope these new sessions encourage women of all ages to follow in their footsteps and try out something new.”

Andy Westlake, Chair of Chesham United LFC, echoed this sentiment, saying, “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Everyone Active on both of these local initiatives. We’ve been working to build participation in women’s football locally for over 25 years, so anything we can do to bring new players into the game is central to our mission.”

With the support of Chesham United Ladies Football Club, Chilterns Lifestyle Centre is paving the way for women’s football in Buckinghamshire, and they look forward to welcoming new players to their growing community of female footballers.
