On the other side, Luverne dropped to a 1-2 record after suffering their second consecutive loss following a season-opening win. Looking to turn things around, the Cardinals will host Esko in their upcoming game on Saturday.
In the world of softball, Jackson County Central dominated Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian with a commanding 10-0 shutout victory in six innings. Freshman pitcher Mady Wachal led the charge for JCC, striking out 13 batters and not allowing a single walk. Bailey Fink also made a significant impact at the plate, contributing with a 2-RBI single and a 2-run home run.
With the win, the Huskies improved their season record to 3-1, handing the Flying Dutchmen their first loss of the season as they fell to 2-1. The Rebels staged a late-game comeback, scoring six runs in the fifth inning and six more in the sixth to secure the win early due to the 10-run rule. Thea Schneider pitched a solid game for MCC, collecting four strikeouts and giving up four hits. Abigale Loosbrock led the offensive charge with a home run, four RBIs, and two runs scored.
