2025 Formula 1 Season Calendar Highlights
The 2025 Formula 1 season is set to kick off in Australia on the 16th of March, marking a return to the traditional season opener at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne. The calendar for the upcoming season features 24 races, with only minimal changes in the order of races after the first five.
The Australian Grand Prix will be followed by races in China, Japan, and Bahrain, with the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix moving to Round 5. The season will feature two triple-header race weekends in April, with races in Japan, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia taking place back-to-back. The final races of the season will be held in Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi, with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix closing out the season on the 7th of December.
The return to Australia as the season opener is a significant moment for Formula 1, as the Albert Park circuit has been a regular fixture for the first race of the season since 1996. The 2020 and 2021 seasons were meant to start in Australia but were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with Bahrain stepping in as the season opener in 2021.
In the current 2024 season, defending champion Max Verstappen leads the standings by 13 points over his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez. The Dutchman has won three of the four races so far, with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr. taking the victory in Australia. The upcoming race in China will be the first race in the country since 2019, following the cancellation of races there due to COVID-19 restrictions.
With an exciting calendar and competitive field, the 2025 Formula 1 season promises to be a thrilling spectacle for fans around the world.
