High School Baseball Roundup: Cloquet, Superior, and Esko Secure Wins on April 12
Cloquet Lumberjacks secured their first win of the season in Lake Superior Conference baseball with a convincing 9-4 victory over Duluth Denfeld on Friday. The game, played at Wade Stadium in Duluth, saw Cloquet’s offense firing on all cylinders as they scored in five of their first six at-bats.
The Lumberjacks showcased their depth with hits coming from eight different players, including standout performances from Hudson Snesrud, Nico Gentilini, Evan Syverson, and Wyatt Preteau, who each had two hits.
On the mound, Drew Angell delivered a solid performance for Cloquet, allowing just two runs on five hits in six innings of work. He also recorded two strikeouts and two walks to help secure the win for his team.
Denfeld, on the other hand, struggled to get their offense going and didn’t score until the fifth inning. Despite getting hits from six different players, including a double from Nolan Harju and Brady McGinn, they couldn’t overcome Cloquet’s early lead. Harju took the loss for the Hunters.
Overall, it was a well-rounded performance from Cloquet as they finally got their first win of the season. With contributions from both their offense and pitching staff, the Lumberjacks will look to build on this momentum as they continue their season in the Lake Superior Conference.
