Young, currently ranked No. 14 in the world, has a number of sponsors including Mutual of Omaha, Cisco, iCapital, and Mastercard. However, it is the MLB logo that stands out on his clothing. So why does a golfer have a baseball logo on his attire?

The story behind Young’s MLB sponsorship dates back to a dinner with MLB commissioner Rob Manfred. Young’s father was the head pro at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, where the Manfreds were also members. After a dinner with the Manfred family, Rob approached Young and asked if he would be willing to wear the MLB patch. Despite being a relatively unknown player at the time, Young eagerly accepted the offer and has proudly displayed the logo ever since.

Young is not the only golfer to sport logos from other sports leagues. In fact, MLB’s decision to sponsor golfers was the brainchild of agent Dave Parker, who saw the potential for crossover between baseball and golf fans. The move has proven to be a successful marketing strategy, with fans taking notice of the MLB sponsorship during Young’s impressive performances on the course.

As a native of the Bronx, Young grew up as a fan of the New York Yankees. While he has not yet taken advantage of the free tickets that come with his sponsorship, he remains grateful for the opportunity to represent Major League Baseball on the golf course.

With the MLB logo proudly displayed on his attire, Cameron Young continues to make a name for himself both on and off the course. As golfers increasingly become walking billboards for various brands, Young’s unique sponsorship serves as a reminder of the growing intersection between sports and marketing in the world of professional golf.
