Bill Zito, Chris Drury, and Tom Fitzgerald Named Assistant GMs for USA Hockey’s Teams

In a groundbreaking announcement on Friday, Florida’s Bill Zito, the New York Rangers’ Chris Drury, and New Jersey’s Tom Fitzgerald were named as assistant general managers for USA Hockey’s teams that will compete in the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off next year and the highly anticipated 2026 Olympics in Italy.

Joining them is Minnesota’s Chris Kelleher, who will serve as the director of player personnel for the teams. Together, they will work alongside general manager Bill Guerin and assistant executive director John Vanbiesbrouck to lead the American squads to victory in both events.

Guerin, a former three-time Olympian and current president of hockey operations for the Minnesota Wild, expressed his excitement about the upcoming challenges, stating, “We’ve got a great management group, and I’m excited to work with them in representing our country. It’s an exciting time in USA Hockey, and we’re focused on bringing home championships from both events.”

Drury, a two-time Olympic silver medalist, and Fitzgerald, a former Team USA player, bring a wealth of experience to the team. Zito, who has previously been part of the front office for bronze-medal-winning U.S. teams, adds valuable expertise to the group.

The U.S. men’s hockey team has not won gold at the Olympics since the iconic “Miracle on Ice” victory in 1980. With the NHL allowing its players to participate in the upcoming Winter Games, there is renewed hope for American hockey fans to see their team reach the top of the podium once again.

As the countdown to the 2026 Olympics in Italy begins, the newly appointed assistant general managers are ready to lead Team USA to glory on the international stage. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting journey.
