Westminster College Women’s Tennis Team Dominates Clarion University with 8-1 Victory

The Westminster College women’s tennis team dominated Clarion University with an impressive 8-1 victory on Tuesday afternoon. The win improved Westminster’s overall record to 11-7, while Clarion fell to 1-6.

Sophomore Christine Rossi and junior Gia Francisco led the charge for Westminster, improving their season record to 12-4 with a solid 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Junior Ryleigh Valone and sophomore Grace Askey also contributed to the team’s success with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Emma Overlingas and junior Taylor Dlugozima continued their winning streak, pushing their season record to 13-2 after securing an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.

In singles competition, Francisco, Rossi, Valone, Overlingas, and Askey all secured victories for Westminster. Overlingas, in particular, stood out with a 16-1 season record after her win at No. 4 singles.

Looking ahead, Westminster is gearing up to host PAC rival Franciscan University on Saturday at 10 a.m. The team is riding high on their recent success and is eager to continue their winning streak.
