“Behind the Mic: Madeleine Considine’s Journey Hosting ‘This Week in Lions Baseball’ Podcast”
LMU Baseball Podcast Hosted by Madeleine Considine Sheds Light on Team’s Behind-the-Scenes
Last year, Nathan Choate, the former head coach of the baseball program at LMU, kickstarted the podcast “This Week in Lions Baseball.” What started as a platform for game recaps and previews has evolved into a unique “backstage pass” for baseball fans, thanks to Madeleine Considine, a junior journalism major who now writes, records, and produces the podcast.
When Quinn Ireland, assistant sports media relations manager, approached Considine to host the podcast, he encouraged her to make the structure more “free-flowing” to give fans a deeper look into the players, staff, and the program as a whole.
Considine, who also works as an ESPN+ sideline reporter for LMU men’s baseball, initially faced challenges in getting players to open up during interviews. However, as the players understood the podcast’s mission to highlight their stories and the team’s unique features, they became more willing to participate.
Despite being a woman in a male-dominated field, Considine has found support and respect from the coaching staff and players. She aims to showcase the women in the LMU baseball program in an upcoming podcast episode, drawing from her own experiences in the industry.
Looking ahead, Considine is excited about the future of the podcast and hopes to attract more listeners, especially among baseball fans and students. Her passion for the sport and dedication to sharing untold stories make “This Week in Lions Baseball” a must-listen for anyone interested in the LMU baseball program.
