Ospreys Chief Executive Hopes to Announce New Home Venue in May

Ospreys Chief Executive Lance Bradley is on the verge of announcing the team’s new home venue, with hopes to make a decision by May. The region is looking to move away from the Swansea.com Stadium to a smaller ground, with Bridgend’s Brewery Field being a potential option.

The decision to play their recent Challenge Cup match against Sale at the Brewery Field proved to be a success, with Ospreys securing a 23-15 victory. The atmosphere at the smaller venue was lively, with a crowd of 4,225 in attendance, a stark contrast to recent games in Swansea where crowds had dwindled to around 4,000.

Bradley emphasized the importance of fan experience and atmosphere in the decision-making process for the new home venue. Ospreys are considering three viable options – Bridgend, St Helen’s in Swansea, and the Gnoll in Neath – with plans to move in time for the 2025-26 season.

The financial aspect is also crucial, as Bradley highlighted the need for the stadium to be viable beyond matchday income. Ospreys owners, Y11 Sports & Media, are prepared to fund the project, with a focus on long-term sustainability and return on investment.

As Ospreys prepare for their upcoming quarter-final visit to Gloucester, where Bradley previously served as chief executive, the team is looking to build on their recent success and create a strong fan base at their new home venue. With plans in motion for a more intimate and atmospheric stadium, Ospreys are aiming to revitalize their matchday experience and attract more supporters in the future.
