Mersin Water Sports Center Opens to Promote Water Sports in the City
Mersin Metropolitan Municipality has taken a significant step towards promoting water sports in the city by opening the Babil Water Sports Center. This new facility, located in Mezitli District, offers a wide range of water sports activities such as surfing, water skiing, sailing, canoeing, and rowing.
The Babil Water Sports Center, spread over an area of 340 square meters, consists of two separate buildings designed to cater to the needs of different water sports enthusiasts. The center provides facilities such as changing rooms, a warehouse area for equipment storage, and administrative sections for athletes participating in canoeing, rowing, and sailing.
Emrullah Taşkın, the Head of the Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Services Department, expressed his excitement about the opening of the center, emphasizing the municipality’s commitment to promoting sports in Mersin. He encouraged citizens of all ages to take advantage of the opportunities offered at the Babil Water Sports Center.
Cengiz Sönmez, the President of Mersin Rota Sailing Club, praised the modernity and beauty of the facility, highlighting its potential to attract national and international sailing events.
