Excitement Builds as Gurugram Hockey Players Await New Astroturf Field at Nehru Stadium
Hockey players in Gurugram are eagerly awaiting the completion of the new Astroturf field at Nehru Stadium, which is set to revolutionize the game in the region. The installation of the Astroturf, costing Rs 7.79 crore, is nearing completion, with officials working diligently to ensure that all preparations are finalized for the international-level field.
Deputy Commissioner Gurugram, Nishant Kumar Yadav, recently inspected the Astroturf ground and provided necessary directions to ensure that the project is completed on time. Yadav expressed his excitement about the new facility, stating that it will provide a significant boost to hockey players in the area and help them achieve success in international competitions.
The new Astroturf has been designed to prevent waterlogging during the rainy season, with the existing ground being raised to protect the turf. The 91.40 meters long and 55 meters wide field is equipped with six sprinklers that can cover a distance of 45 to 50 meters, ensuring that the turf receives adequate water for maintenance.
The introduction of the Astroturf is expected to attract more players to the sport, with seating arrangements for 35 to 40 players and improved facilities for practice. District Sports Officer Ramnivas highlighted the positive impact of the new field, noting that the number of players practicing hockey is expected to increase significantly.
Overall, the completion of the Astroturf field at Nehru Stadium is set to usher in a new era of hockey in Gurugram, providing players with a world-class facility to hone their skills and compete at the highest level.
