Easthampton Native Saige Harper Selected to Compete in 2024 Paralympic Games

Saige Harper, a native of Easthampton, has achieved a remarkable feat by being selected to compete in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris this summer. Rowing for the United States in the PR3 Mixed Double Sculls, Harper’s journey to this prestigious event is nothing short of inspiring.

Having been involved in a tubing accident at the age of 14 that left her with permanent damage to her left leg, Harper refused to let her injury define her. Instead, she turned to swimming and rowing as a source of motivation and strength during her recovery process.

A standout athlete at Easthampton High School, Harper excelled in swimming before ultimately choosing to pursue rowing at the collegiate level. Her dedication and hard work paid off as she earned a spot on Sacred Heart University’s rowing team and later went on to compete internationally.

After an impressive performance at the World Championships, Harper’s journey to the Paralympic Games was solidified when she was selected to compete in the mixed doubles sculls event. Teaming up with Todd Vogt, Harper is eager to showcase her skills on the world stage and make her mark in a new competitive environment.

As she prepares for the Games, Harper is grateful for the support of her family, friends, and teammates who have been by her side every step of the way. With the summer approaching, Harper is filled with excitement at the prospect of representing her country at the highest level of competition.

The Paralympic Games in Paris will provide extensive coverage of the rowing events, giving fans the opportunity to cheer on Harper and her fellow athletes as they compete for glory. With her determination and passion for the sport, Harper is poised to make a lasting impression at this year’s Games.
