Kobe Pace Reflects on Clemson Days as Tony Elliott Coaches UVa Running Backs

Virginia running back Kobe Pace is feeling right at home as he enters his second year with the Cavaliers. Pace, who spent his first three seasons with the Clemson Tigers, had a sense of nostalgia during Tuesday’s practice as he worked with his former running backs coach, now current Virginia head coach Tony Elliott.

Elliott, in his third year leading the Cavaliers, was hands-on with the running backs, emphasizing fundamentals and pushing Pace and the rest of the group to perform at their best. Pace, the veteran of the bunch and expected starter, led the way in drills, showcasing his agility and precision under Elliott’s watchful eye.

The Cavaliers are counting on Pace to be a game-changer this fall, building on his breakout season in 2021 when he rushed for over 600 yards and six touchdowns. With a deeper understanding of Virginia’s offense and a year of experience under his belt, Pace is poised to take his game to the next level.

Behind Pace, the running back group is mostly inexperienced, with redshirt freshmen and converted wide receivers filling out the depth chart. Pace has taken on a leadership role, guiding the younger players and setting an example for them to follow.

One player who has impressed during spring practices is redshirt freshman Noah Vaughn, who has shown great vision and potential to contribute in the fall. With injuries impacting the offensive line and quarterback position, the Cavaliers are relying on Pace and the running backs to step up and make an impact.

As Pace continues to hone his skills and lead by example, the Cavaliers are hopeful that he can elevate his game and help lead the team to success in the upcoming season. With Coach Elliott by his side, Pace is ready to make his mark and show why he is a key player for Virginia’s offense.
